Ourocard Elo Card: benefits, annual fee and how to apply through the BB app

Anyone organizing their financial life, whether retired, a civil servant, a student, a salaried worker, or starting over, usually looks for a credit card without complications: one that works at any store, has a virtual card for online purchases, and doesn't weigh on the budget. Ourocard Elo, from Banco do Brasil, is one of the bank's entry points, and it's worth understanding what it offers before placing the order.

Here we gather the advantages, the annual fee cost, how to make it free, and the way to apply.

What Ourocard Elo is

It is the credit card from Banco do Brasil with the Elo network. According to the bank, it can be used for purchases in Brazil and abroad, for payments and, for account holders, also to move money in their account. The application is made through the BB app.

Advantages in everyday life

  • Virtual card (Ourocard-e) for online purchases, without exposing the physical card number.
  • Payment by phone with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Option to personalize the card.
  • Access to Benefícios Ourocard, with offers in entertainment, sports and culture.
  • Elo network benefits, such as promotions, discounts and advance ticket sales for shows. With Elo Flex there are 5 benefits: 2 fixed and 3 that you swap according to your routine.

Points, cash back or investment

Purchases earn 0.5 point per US$ 1 spent in the Benefícios BB program, and the points automatically convert to Livelo (you can switch to Dotz). Account holders can exchange points, through the app, for 0.15% cash back in the account or invested in a fixed-income fund, and change that choice whenever they want.

How much the annual fee costs and how to waive it

The annual fee for the primary cardholder is R$ 210.00 per year, charged in 12 installments of R$ 17.50. Each additional card, up to five, pays half the primary cardholder's amount.

The bank offers an automatic discount: when credit card purchases reach R$ 2,500, the monthly fee installment is waived, both yours and that of the additional cards. Bill payments, credit withdrawals, interest, fees and the annual fee installments themselves do not count toward this amount.

Do the math before applying: if your card spending falls well below this, the annual fee becomes a fixed cost in your budget.

How to apply for Ourocard Elo

  1. Download the App BB from your phone's app store.
  2. In the cards area, choose Ourocard Elo and submit the requested information.
  3. Follow the response through the app itself. When the card arrives, activate the credit function there.

As with any card, approval is not automatic: the bank analyzes each person's income and history, and it is the one that sets the limit. Those whose name is negative on credit records usually find it harder; in that case, organizing debts before applying helps.

Who it makes sense for

Ourocard Elo suits those who want a card from a large bank, pay by phone and shop online. The point of attention is the annual fee, which is only free with high monthly spending. If your usage is lower, compare it with no-annual-fee cards before deciding.
